President Gitanas Nausėda

President Gitanas NausedaPresident Gitanas Nausėda was born on 19 May 1964 in Klaipėda. He studied at the Klaipėda 5th Secondary School, attended the Klaipėda Music School and sang in the boys’ choir “Gintarėlis”.

In 1987, he graduated as an economist from the Faculty of Industrial Economics at Vilnius University.

From 1987 to 1989, he was a post-graduate student at the Faculty of Economics, Vilnius University.

From 1987 to 2004, he lectured at the Faculty of Economics, Vilnius University.

From 1990 to 1992, he was on a study programme at the University of Mannheim in Germany under the DAAD scholarship.

Doctor of Social Sciences since 1993.

From 1993 to 1994, he worked for the Lithuanian Competition Council as Head of the Financial Markets Department.

In 1994, he held a political science internship at the Bundestag in Bonn.

From 1994 to 1996, he worked at the Bank of Lithuania as Deputy Head of the Division for Methodology and Analysis in the Commercial Banks Supervision Department.

In 1996-2000, he was Director of the Monetary Policy Department at the Bank of Lithuania.

Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania from 1998 to 2000.

In 2004, he was adviser to President Valdas Adamkus.

From 2000 to 2008, he was adviser to the chairman of AB Vilniaus Bankas.

Associate professor at Vilnius University International Business School since 2009.

From 2008 to 2018, he was adviser to the chairman of SEB Bank and chief economist.
